Consultation

The first step to getting the hair that you have been dreaming about is scheduling a consultation with a licensed and certified professional. That would be me... Allana Fabrikant-Kanevsky, your hair extensions specialist. [learn more about me]

We will go over your reasons for wanting hair extensions, your hair texture, scalp condition, hair density, your desired look and goal for your hair in the future, the length of time you want to have extensions in, your budget, your life style, your hair history, among a few other details.

Once we have established what method is for you, we will proceed to custom design your new look. We will select the type of hair extensions, the color, length and texture of the hair extensions. I will measure your head, hair thickness and density to determine the amount of hair needed to create a custom design for your new hair style. If your hair is not suitable for hair extensions we will explore Wig and or Hair piece options.

After we have picked out the perfect color and texture of the hair we will order the hair (which can take up to 7 business days to arrive) and schedule an appointment for the day of your new hair style transformation.

Please Note: If you need to color your hair we must do so at least 3 days prior to attaching the extensions or at least 3 days after.

Day of application

If using strand by strand method or seamless extensions

Your hair will be washed with a special shampoo 3-5 times to insure it is clean and free of all oils and products.
Your hair will be dried straight to allow for clean sections and precise application of hair extensions.
The application process will begin in the back of the head near the hair line working in custom designed sections (depending on your hair density, thickness and growth direction) up the head. This process can take 4-8 hrs depending on the amount of hair and size of sections.
Once all the hair has been attached I will cut the hair extensions into a desired style.
Hair should not be washed for 3 days
Upon completion of your new hair style you will receive a maintenance kit, with information on the hair, the guarantee, maintenance instructions, a check list, products and brushes. I will also provide you with a list of tools that can and cannot be used on the hair extensions and how they can be used safely to style your new hair.
Schedule a check up for 2 weeks.

Note: It is a long time to sit still so when booking appointments we allow enough time for you to get up and move around. Drinks and snacks will be provided during this time and meals can be provided upon request.

Day of application

If using clip ins, hair pieces, short term styles

Your hair should be clean and dry with very little product in it unless specified otherwise during the consultation.
The hair will be styled and pieces will be attached to create the most fabulous look.
You will be given instructions on how to remove the hair and directions on how to recreate the style on your own.
You will also be given instructions on how to wash the hair pieces.
No check ups needed.

2 week Check up

I will check to make sure you have no problems with the hair extensions, that your hair feels, natural and easy for you.
I will answer any questions or concerns you have about the hair extensions.
Wash, blow dry and style your hair.
Schedule the following check up for 6 weeks.

6 week Check up

I will check to make sure you have no problems with the hair extensions, untangle any if they are tangles in the hair.
Wash, blow dry and style your hair.
Make sure you have enough products to take care of the hair.

Note: It is advised that you have the hair checked every 6 weeks. If you get your hair colored it is advised that you get it colored only by the stylist who is your extensions specialist to ensure the hair extensions guarantee.

Maintenance at home

Maintenance of hair extensions is very simple; all you have to do is follow the directions provided to you in the maintenance kit. For the most part it's just like taking care of your own hair. Wash it, condition it, comb it so there are no tangles, protect it from heat and sun damage, don't use bad products ( you will receive a list of DO NOT use products) and make sure you come for your 6 week check ups.

If you don't feel comfortable styling your hair, or feel like you could use some guidance, I will provide you with styling classes to help you adjust to the new hair and be able to easily style it yourself.

For those of you who don't like or chose not to style your own hair, I would suggest scheduling weekly appointments for wash and style to keep your hair looking fabulous.

It all depends on what suits you best.

The quality of the hair is amazing and can be allowed to air dry for those of you who like and wear a more natural tousled look.

All of this information will be in your kit and we will go over it during the consultation as well as the initial application appointment.

Warning: If you do not follow the maintenance instructions, use products on the DO NOT use list, do not come for regular check ups or get your hair colored somewhere else I cannot guarantee that the hair extensions will last for more than a few months. Most of my clients are able to keep their hair extensions in for 5-8 months.
